Hello Fall! And welcome back to my little corner of the internet! It’s been a long time since I posted anything here, so I’ll start things off with a little life update. The end of August & beginning of September are always a crazy time of year for me, & this year was no exception. I am one of the advisors for my sorority’s chapter at Centenary College, where I was a collegiate member, & am very involved in helping the girls get ready for fall recruitment. I absolutely love being involved with the chapter, getting to know the collegiates, & helping them prepare to welcome new members into our organization. That being said, it is time-consuming & exhausting at times. That, combined with some weekends of travel to Austin & Dallas, a busy work schedule, & other responsibilities, & I ended up sick. I should have known it was coming, as I typically get sick when I push myself too hard, let myself get run down, & don’t take time out to care for myself.
At any rate, this blog & my instagram were the thing that fell through the cracks amidst all of the crazy. But, I have decided to give myself a little understanding for not being perfect & not being able to balance everything 100% of the time. Last weekend I attended StyleCon in Dallas & had the opportunity to connect with some amazing blogger babes & the topic of balance kept up. I am constantly juggling all of my roles – attorney, volunteer, girlfriend, friend, blogger – & I’m slowly learning that it’s ok to admit that it can all be overwhelming at times. It’s ok to admit that you can’t do everything all at once & to take a step back to take care of yourself. Because, really, how are you supposed to take care of everyone else if you’re so worn down that you can barely function?
Now, on to this casual fall look, starring a spring trend that’s carrying over into fall – the statement sleeve! I picked up this lavender cardigan during the Nordstrom anniversary sale & have been dying to wear it! I was a little worried that the voluminous sleeves would be overwhelming, but they are too cute in person. I love the light lavendar color, but the sweater comes in black too. So far I’ve worn it styled casually, like I’ve shown it here, with jeans & booties, & for work with a black pencil skirt & heels. With statement sleeves, it’s important that the rest of your look isn’t too busy. You want to let the sleeves be the statement piece, hence the name of the trend, lol.
On a side note, the Shopbop Sale is going on now (ends tomorrow night)! The sale includes full price & sale items – you get 20% off orders under $500 & 25% off orders over $500 with the code EOTS17. This is a great time to snag those pricier items that you’ve been eying, like my favorite AG denim. Here’s what’s on my wishlist!
