Spring doesn’t officially begin until the end of the month, but the temps have been in the 70’s for weeks here so I’ve been in the mood for spring for a while now. And with all the great sales going on right now, it’s never too early to start thinking of the warmer days ahead. Today, I’ve rounded up my five favorite trends for spring & linked up some great options for each.
It’s no secret that “pink is my signature color,” so I am over the moon to see all of the shades of pale blush that spring is bringing. It seems that last year’s Pantone color of the year isn’t going anywhere. There’s something so sweet & dainty about the pale pink shade. I’ve already picked up this pretty blush ruffled top & this blush tote, but I don’t plan on stopping there! These espadrilles or this sheer cardigan may be next on my list. You can never have too many cardigans!
Lace is the most romantic of the spring trends. I love the pastel, lace-overlay dresses, like this one, as a sexy alternative to the little black dress for spring date nights. A lace top or skirt are great statement pieces to add to your work wardrobe. If you don’t want to go full blown, all-over lace, a touch of lace along a hemline, collar, or accessory is an easy way to incorporate the trend.
Florals, in one way or another, are always on trend for spring & this year is no exception. This year’s florals are showing up as embroidered details on tops, dresses, shorts, etc. Bright embroidery makes a stunning statement against a darker fabric, like this navy dress from Loft. I also love the way it pops against a brighter fabric, like this boho-inspired red top or pink dress. Embroidery is also showing up on shoes (how cute are these?) & as a more subtle addition to lighter fabrics.
Off the shoulder & cold shoulder tops are still on point this year, so I’ll be pulling out my favorites from last year & adding some new ones to my collection. I love the delicate lace flowers on this Loft top & the easy fit of this maxi dress. It’s also so easy to combine the off the shoulder trend with another trend, like lace or statement sleeves for a little extra pizzazz. Gingham is shaping up to be one of the trending patterns this year, & adds a classic look to a trendier silhouette.
From bells or trumpets to layers of ruffles, sleeves are making a statement this spring. I was initially worried that big, statement sleeves would overwhelm my smallish statute – I’m only 5’4″, but I’m finding the trend surprisingly wearable! If you’re petite like me, begin with bell or trumpet sleeves, like this one or this one, that are more narrow at the shoulder but don’t be afraid to play around with some of the more voluminous styles. You never know what you’re going to fall in love with! This ruffled, gingham, wrap top is at the top of my list right now.
