Happy Friday friends! I got out of the habit of this weekly post, but realized that I missed popping in for a quick chat/life update & sharing some of my favorites from the week. So, I am bringing back Friday’s See It, Love It, Want It! This will be a round up of some the great reads that I’ve found online, things that I’m loving, & what’s on my must-have list, combined with a quick catch-up chat!
See It. Just because the temperatures are dropping doesn’t mean that you have to give up your favorite summer cocktails. Everyone knows my love of sangria. Kitchn has put together 10 easy fall sangria recipes that combine the light, refreshing drink with distinctly fall flavors. I can’t wait to try the sparkling white cranberry sangria! It’s going to be perfect for a pre-Thanksgiving get-together or Christmas morning!
Love It. I love Bath & Body Works “wallflowers” home fragrances! I put them in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, & bedroom to give the rooms a constant, light fragrance. There are the classic staples, like lavender vanilla, but the seasonal scents are constantly changing. It’s an easy way to update the house for each season. My favorite for fall is the sweet cinammon pumpkin!
Want It. There are few things that I love more than curling up in front of the fire with a cup of tea & a good book during the fall. I am constantly cold during the fall & winter months, so a cozy knit throw is a necessity. It’s also an easy way to add some texture to the living room & an inexpensive way to update decor for fall.
See It. It seems counter-intuitive, but we tend to wear heavier, water/sweatproof makeup during the summer. The Zoe Report rounded up The Best Removers that Melt Off Even the Most Waterproof Makeup. The list includes a variety of cleansers that will remove everything from stubborn mascara to long-wearing foundation.
Love It. I finally splurged on a Clarisonic cleansing system during the Nordstrom Sale & I am now a believer! It is absolutely as amazing as everyone says that it is. I’ve always struggled with large pores, so I use it in the shower, after removing my makeup, to get the deep down clean that I need. I’ve noticed a difference in the pores around my nose & in the overall condition of my skin.
Want It. Even though summer is almost over, no one is ready to give up that beachy glow. Since I have such fair skin & baking in the sun isn’t an option, a good self-tanner is a must. St. Tropez’s Self-Tanning Bronzing Mousse is one of the most recommended self-tanners out there. It promises to deliver an instant bronze that lasts for up to a week.
See It. Summer is officially here, which means the temps are soaring, we’re outdoors more, & we’re trying to stay in bikini shape. All of those things mean that it is really easy to become dehydrated. I am horrible about drinking enough water during the day, often choosing a soft drink or coffee instead. It is recommended that women drink 2.7 litres of water per day, which seems like a lot to me! But, dehydration can cause a variety of health issues, like fatigue & wrinkles! Today, Career Girl Daily published 6 Obvious Signs You Are Just Not Drinking Enough Water to make it a little easier to tell if you need to up your intake.
Love It. There are infused water recipes to fit just about any taste, with benefits varying based on what fruits you’re adding in. My favorite combo is strawberry, lemon, & mint. The strawberry helps to boost your immune system & curb appetite, plus it has anti-inflammatory properties. The lemon aids in weight management, improved digestion, & appetite control. The mint provides energy. Note: I am not a doctor & this is not medical advice! This is just a recommendation for a water recipe that I enjoy.
Want It. Last summer I got in the habit of keeping a large pitcher of water & fruit in my fridge. I loved the light flavor that the fruit added, plus I was getting some extra nutrients with my water! Win, win! The Define Water Bottle takes the same idea, but makes it a little more portable. The strainer in the center of the bottle keeps the fruit limited to the bottom section & out of your mouth.
See It. In keeping with this week’s summer theme, today’s list is all about getting ready for summer! This time of year the temperature is going up & clothes are shrinking. Spaghetti straps, linen fabrics, & sandals are all necessary when it’s 100 degrees outside. But they also come with all sorts of issues like bra straps hanging out & sweaty feet. PureWow has solutions for those issues & more in their Fashion Tricks to Help You Survive Summer! My favorite trick is how to make your off-the-shoulder top stay put.
Love It. It may be a southern-girl stereotype, but I love sweet tea! There is nothing quite as refreshing as sitting on the porch with a huge glass of ice cold tea. Luckily, Southern Living has compiled 21 Refreshing Sweet Tea Recipes to get you through the hot summer months! For me, the more sugar the better, but I have lots of friends who mix half sweet & half unsweet tea. You can also add lemonade to make an Arnold Palmer.
Want It. Don’t get my wrong, I love my heels, but during the hot summer months, a good pair of flat sandals are a must. I included the Tory Burch “Miller” Flip Flops on this week’s summer essentials round-up & they have been on my wish list since last year. The color “sand patent” is a perfect nude color & they are so simple, classic, & chic.
See It. When I was little, all I wanted was long, thick hair. Unfortunately, I have fine hair that grows extremely slowly. That means that I have to work extra hard to keep my hair healthy as I grow it out. The longer I grow my hair, the more important it becomes to do everything I can to keep it healthy. Luckily, the Zoe Report complied 10 Tricks Used by All Women Who Have Great Hair. Some I already do, like avoiding heat styling when possible, but some I’m hoping to incorporate others, like sleeping on a silk pillowcase to avoid breakage.
Love It. I’ve used Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo for awhile & love it. While I was in Ulta picking some up, I noticed the brand’s PHD Fresh Cut Split End Mender. It promises to quickly seal & heal split ends for visibly smoother hair. I was instantly interested & I must say, it lives up to the hype! I apply a small amount to the ends of my hair after a shower, but before any other products. I love that it’s lightweight & doesn’t make my fine hair look greasy, which is a problem with some leave-in treatments. After drying, you can apply a little more to problem areas.
Want It. My hair has never held a curl without lots of product & very high heat, but I still love a good wave. The T3 Whirl Trio is a favorite styling tool of bloggers & stylists because of its versatility. It has 3 interchangeable barrels of different sizes so you can create everything from beachy waves to tight curls. The barrels are tourmaline & ceramic to help prevent damage. It also comes with a heat resistant glove to protect your hands! It’s kind of pricey, but is definitely on my wish list.
See It. I have always struggled with falling & staying asleep. There is so much going on during the day that my brain just can’t seem to slow down. If you have trouble getting to sleep, try these 11 Things You Need to Sleep Better at Night from Elle.com. From noise-canceling earplugs to PJ’s that keep you cool, there is something so help you get some shut-eye. I seriously need the “smart” earplugs from Hush, available for pre-order now!
Love It. There’s something so luxurious about sleeping on fresh, quality sheets. A friend recommended Pure Beech sheets years ago & I was instantly addicted! They are the softest, smoothest sheets I’ve ever had!!! They come in jersey, sateen, & flannel, & a ton of neutral colors. I have animals that love to get in the bed, so I prefer the white, which can be bleached if needed.
Want It. I have drawers full of comfy, cozy sleepwear. I obviously enjoy dressing up, but I spend most of my down-time in PJ leggings & a tank. I love this shorts set from Cozy Zoe for spring. The lightweight tee & shorts will be perfect for warmer nights!
See It. Today’s list is all about my favorite meal of the week – brunch! While I go out for brunch most weekends (I’m not a great chef & would rather relax), it can be fun to cook at home every once in a while. For some easy & delicious recipes, the Daily Meal has 19 Brunch Recipes That Will Make Your Weekend So Much Better! With recipes for everything from a pancake bowl to a kale & three cheese quiche, you’re sure to find something improve your weekend.
Love It. Last weekend I brunched (yes, that is a verb, lol) with some great girlfriends at two different locations. We started at Wine Country Bistro for the most delicious pancakes & ended up continuing Sunday Funday at Ki Mexico, where we had the most amazing mimosa ever! I am now hooked on the hibiscus mimosa. It’s so easy to make – just make a pitcher of hibiscus tea to use instead of orange juice, you can add hibiscus blossoms for a beautiful garnish too.
Want It. There are plenty of cute brunch themed shirts available, like this one from t+j Designs. It think that it would be so cute with some distressed jeans & a bright jacket for brunch, or with a pencil skirt for a girls’ night out. I also love this tank and this tee.
See It. We all know that you can’t keep makeup forever, but we often don’t realize how quickly makeup can expire. I know that mascara lasts 3 months, but what about the other products? Glamour recently gave an “Easy Way to Tell if Your Beauty Products are Expired.” There is a stamp on each product’s packaging and/or label that tells you how many months you should keep it. So easy! I’ll be keeping this in mind when I clean out my makeup drawers this weekend!
Love It. While I’m tossing out expired makeup this weekend, I’ll take the opportunity to clean my makeup brushes. I use MAC’s brush cleanser to remove makeup residue, disinfect, & condition my brushes. It’s always amazing how much gunk can build up on brushes that are used daily. The cleanser also helps to extend the life of your brushes & shortens drying time. To dry your brushes, I recommend hanging them upside down using a brush tree like Benjabelle’s.
Want It. I am a makeup & beauty product hoarder. I have drawers full of samples, eye shadows, & lipsticks, which can make it difficult to get ready quickly in the morning. This clear acrylic storage piece would allow me to keep the most used items at hand. I love the clear acrylic, which allows you to see what’s in each drawer.
See It. Misty Copeland is arguably the most recognizable ballerina in the world right now. Edgar Degas spent a large portion of his career painting the dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet. In a recent Harper’s Bazaar feature, Copeland recreated some of Degas’ most recognizable works. The results are truly stunning.
Love It. There’s no question that I live & die for anything pink, so I was tickled pink (ha, ha!) when MAC released the Flamingo Park Collection. This capsule collection centers on shades of pink eyeshadow, lip colors, nail polish, & more! Ranging from pale pink glitter to punchy hot pink, there is a shade for everyone! I can’t wait to get my hands on the “be silly” lipstick, just in time for spring!
Want It. Chanel’s tweed suit is a classic, but out of price range for most of us. Storet’s Luxe Sequin Tweed Coco Jacket is an affordable alternative at $158. It comes in navy & sea-foam green, & would be perfect to dress up some jeans or with a pencil skirt for work.
