Hurray! It’s the first day of the best, biggest sale of the year! I’ve rounded up all of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks for you! If you aren’t familiar with the #NSale, it’s the once yearly sale when Nordstrom releases BRAND NEW fall pieces at discounted prices. This sale truly lives up to the hype – you can get top name designers, think Tory Burch, Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Spade, at seriously low prices! Early access starts today for Nordstrom cardholders, then opens to everyone on July 21. On August 7, everything goes up to full price.
Spring doesn’t officially begin until the end of the month, but the temps have been in the 70’s for weeks here so I’ve been in the mood for spring for a while now. And with all the great sales going on right now, it’s never too early to start thinking of the warmer days ahead. Today, I’ve rounded up my five favorite trends for spring & linked up some great options for each.
It’s the day we’ve been waiting for – the start of the annual Nordstrom Anniversay Sale! Seriously though, I look forward to this sale way more than Black Friday. Nordstrom cardholders can access the sale now & it opens to everyone else on July 22! I got up early this morning, with my shopping list in hand, to snag some pieces that I knew would go quickly. There are some amazing deals this year, and as promised, I’ve rounded up what’s in my cart & what’s on my wishlist!
Geo Pattern Square Scarf // Pleat Detail A-Line Skirt // Clarisonic Mia // Boyfriend Watch // Asymmetrical Zip Pencil Skirt // AG “The Legging” Ankle Jeans
Open Front Cardigan // Belted Short Wool Blend Coat // Deep V-Neck Pullover // Stripe Shirt
Ashlynn Riding Boot // Fiena Bootie // Owen Pointy Toe Ghillie Flat // Jael Shoulder Bag // Mini Leather Crossbody Bag // Leather Hobo
This sale is the perfect time to stock up on fall staples or splurge on something you’ve been eyeing. I picked up some work staples in rich berry colors, like this skirt and coat from Halogen. It’s a great time to get blanket scarves for fall layering, some for under $20. I also stocked up on some comfy sweaters, like this cardigan & this pullover from BP. After debating for months, I’ve decided to take the plunge & try the Clarisonic Mia while it’s $40 off. Tory Burch riding boots are marked down by almost $200 & bags are also at a steep discount. I am loving this luggage brown hobo bag for fall & this Louise et Cie bag is a great dupe for the pricey Chloe one. AG jeans are my absolute favorite brand because they fit so perfectly & are great quality. I always snag them when I find them on sale, like this slightly distressed pair.
The 88th Annual Academy Awards (film’s big night) marked the end of this year’s award season. I loved that Leonardo Caprio, who finally took home a best actor award, & celeb BFF/co-star, Kate Winslet, walked the carpet together. #squadgoals. Here are some more of my favorite looks from last night.
Brie Larson took home the best actress award in a gorgeous cobalt Gucci gown. I mean, how amazing is this color? I love the embellishments at the waist, combined with pleated ruffling down the skirt. The gown also featured a short train, which was a big trend last night. Rachel McAdams wore a deep teal August Getty Atelier & Charlize Theron wore a plunging red Christian Dior. Chrissy Teigen was sown into an embellished Marchesa & walked the runway with John Legend. They are seriously the cutest couple ever.
Another big trend was embellishments. Cate Blanchett took on the trend with an ethereal mint green floral gown by Giorgio Armani Prive. The plunging neckline & curve hugging silhouette were the perfect combination of feminine & sexy. Emily Blunt showed off her baby bump in a pale pink Prada, Isla Fisher also went the floral route in Marchesa, & Alicia Vikander took home the award for best supporting actress in a sunny citron Louis Vuitton fit for a Disney princess.
Saoirse Ronan sparkled in emerald Calvin Klein Collection & Naomi Watts shined in ombre Giorgio Armani Prive. Reese Witherspoon looked regal in purple Oscar de la Renta & Sofia Vergara showed off her curves in Marchesa. Those two ladies can do no wrong.
Black & White. Kerry Washington went monochrome in a sexy Atelier Versace. I love the bustier top & nearly hip-high slit. Olivia Wilde combined a plunging neckline & pleats in an ivory Valentino Haute Couture, Priyanka Chopra wowed in a lacy Zuhair Murad, & Lady Gaga was demure in a white Brandon Maxwell jumpsuit. Julianne Moore’s Chanel Couture was straight from the runway. It was one of my favorites from last month’s SS16 fashion week & I was so excited to see it on the red carpet. Jennifer Garner appeared solo in a one-shoulder Versace gown & Jennifer Lawrence wore a sheer & lacy Dior.

I am so excited about Pantone’s 2016 Colors of the Year! For the first time, Pantone has chosen not one, but two balancing colors – Rose Quartz & Serenity! I have always loved pink & while I don’t have a lot of blue in my closet, I love the juxtaposition of the cool blue against a warm pink. Next week I’ll share how I’m mingling the pastel hues with my darker winter wardrobe. But first, here are some great pieces in both Pantone shades:
Fall is finally in the air! This time of transition into full-scale cool weather is the perfect time to layer up, so I thought that I’d pull together some of my favorite pieces for layering this fall. A plaid shirt is the perfect base layer to mix with a puffer vest or sweater. A plaid scarf is cute when thrown over a solid sweater or top & a beanie can be thrown on with any outfit. Riding boots & a crossbody bag keep things casual. Finally, a fitted wool coat is a must for keeping warm between the car & office.
Temperatures are starting to drop here (though it’s still above 90 degrees everyday), so I’m starting to plan my fall wardrobe & shoes are a huge part of that! I love that shoes are an easy way to add some interest to a simple outfit. Booties and boots are a fall staple & this year, a stacked heel and slight western edge are the trend in booties. I’ve had my eye on these Vince Camuto booties for weeks now! The trend in boots is the taller the better, with most reaching above the knee. All the better to keep my legs warm! I’m also loving the lace-up trend for pumps & sandals. These sexy Stuart Weitzman sandals are on sale now.
Summer is almost here! Although I tend to be a wimp about the heat and humidity that summer brings, I love the outdoor gatherings that come with it. We spend lots of summer afternoons by the pool or on the lake, so I’ve collected my favorite swimwear trends that are perfect for whatever gathering you have planned.

Cover-ups & Accessories
Good morning all! I am so happy and excited to be starting this new journey. I love fashion and style, so this blog will be my creative outlet and way to share my life with you! It’s been freezing here for the last few days, we even got some snow/ice. I cannot wait for spring to arrive so I can put away the heavy sweaters and boots. So I thought I’d start things off here by looking forward to some of the best trends for spring! Here’s my top three trends.
This sweet and charming check was everywhere on spring runways. Go bold with an all-over look or use it as an accent.
A Belted Waist
Whether it’s a simple ribbon or an obi vibe, everyone will be cinching in their waist this spring. It’s a great way to add interest, contrast, and definition to a dress.
There’s something all-American about denim. This spring top off your look with a classic jacket or go full-body with a denim shirt-dress.
