I am a naturally cold-natured person, so I’m excited anytime I get to wrap up in comfy layers. I’ve been so happy to see blanket scarves, ponchos, & capes everywhere this fall. I got this oversized blanket scarf last year & was so excited to pull it out over the weekend. It’s large enough to wear as a wrap & the colorblocking really stands out against a monochrome base layer. The ponte leggings are from Loft & I have been living in them since they arrived! They are thick enough to wear with a shorter top than I usually wear with leggings, but still so comfy.
After a short drop, temperatures here have gone back up to the high 70’s. While I love fall & cannot wait for true sweater-weather, the warm temps have allowed me to keep some bright dresses in rotation. I got this pink & orange leopard print dress over the summer & it quickly became one of my favorites. It’s so incredibly comfy! Once it gets a little cooler, I’ll trade out the sandals for boots & keep wearing it!
It’s officially fall today! Otherwise known as college football season if you live in the south. Since I was a child, Saturday nights in the fall have been dedicated to LSU football. I still get chills when I hear the first notes of pre-game played by the Golden Band. We attended our first game of the season last weekend. Despite the extreme heat of a day game in Tiger Stadium, we had a great time tailgating with friends & watching the game. I may be biased, but I think that a home game in Tiger Stadium is the best college football experience in the country!
Mike VI arrived on campus about the same time I did, so I always stop by to see him in his habitat near the stadium. Sometimes he makes an appearance at the game, but only if he voluntarily loads into his trailer. Last year, he didn’t make it to any games.
Last weekend’s game was incredibly hot, so a sleeveless dress was a must! I picked up this cute one at Frock Candy on Saturday morning, but The Mint Julep Boutique and Gameday Goddess are two of my favorite online shops for cute, unique gameday attire. Flat sandals make it easy to get around campus & a cross-body bag is perfect for carrying into the stadium.
Since fall is on the way, I’ve been putting some light-weight sweaters into my wardrobe rotation. This grey cowl-neck was perfect to pair with a classic pencil skirt for a work dinner. It also gave me chance to carry this bright pink clutch (with a removable shoulder strap) from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m a sucker for anything pink & I’ve been dying for a chance to take this bag out! I think it added a fun pop of color to an otherwise monochrome look & it’s on sale again now for 50% off!
There is no denying that a rich burgundy is THE color for fall. I love that it pairs well with any neutral! Since it still feels like summer here, a sleeveless burgundy top and white jeans is a perfect combination to stay cool but also begin incorporating fall styles/colors. You’ve seen my Barrington Gifts monogram tote before, here and here, so it goes without saying that I’m still a huge fan of the versatile bag.
A few weeks ago we took a long weekend to visit family in Dallas. Here’s my drinks & dinner look from one of the nights. I wanted something that was dressy enough for a night out, but still comfortable since we’d be walking between locations in Uptown. I it’s one of my favorite, go-to tops – a hot pink tunic from Zara. It’s lightweight, a little flowy, & the most perfect shade of bright pink. The necklace is one that I received in my first Rocksbox & couldn’t live without! It’s the Maddie Crystal Necklace by Perry Street. It helps dress up any look, from a cocktail dress to jeans & a button down. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with this Gigi All-in-One bag‘s ability to corral cash, credit cards, makeup, phone, & keys. While that isn’t sufficient for day-to-day (I carry practically everything I own in a huge tote), it’s everything I need for drinks & dinner.
It has been unbearably hot for the last few weeks, but it’s usually too cold in my office for a sleeveless look. Our A/C was out at work last week, giving me the perfect opportunity to wear light summer dresses! This dress combines the gingham trend with a breezy fabric that’s perfect for this heat. I combined it with understated jewelry & cut-out pumps to dress it up a little for the office.
I’ve worn this sundress so many times already this summer! It really is the perfect piece for looking put together in the summer hear. The breathable linen is perfect for keeping cool without much effort. I love that the embroidered detail spices up the simple little white dress. Add white wedges and a delicate bar necklace, and you’re ready for any outdoor fete. I’ve also added denim jacket or blue cardigan for work.

Here’s a quick look at what I wore for a recent date night. I apologize for the poor quality photos, it was a spur of the moment shoot with an iPhone! I planned the entire look around the fabulous, ruffled red shoes. I’ve had them for years & don’t wear them often enough! I went with my favorite fluid tank from Loft in black (the cream version was shown here), skinny jeans, & delicate gold jewelry.
I wore this look over the weekend to run errands. You may have seen this Market & Spruce top styled with jeans on my Instagram last week. I received the dolman sleeve top in my latest StitchFix and instantly fell in love – it is unbelievably soft and comfy! Pair it with shorts, sandals, and a great tote, and you’re ready for a day of running around town. I added gold jewelry, including my favorite monogram necklace, to finish off the look.
